Yellow Dog

Yellow dog is a stray that Nick and Ashley took in when they found her wandering their neighborhood.  She doesn’t do much besides lay on her bed and chill.  She’ll get up if there is a bunch of excitement, but she never really joins in.  She just stands there watching over the group in a motherly manner until we quite down to her satisfaction before walking back to bed.  It really is one of the cutest animal behaviors I’ve seen.

  1. Dear Silent Scott, I am Augdra and Have A blog here on WordPress too(see Augies Tale) Your Yellow Dog looks very much like mine and augie was a stray I took in as well. If the picture I have on my blog looks like your dog you might want to go to National Geographic News site and search Carolina Dog. If you think that your Yellow Dog matches this discription, then her behavior is that of learning how to fit into your family “pack”. My Augie did the same. Give her Status such as a place to sit on an easy chair or a couch. I put a special cover on the couch to indicate Augies spot. Please leave a comment for me as I am researching these dogs and have already discovered several traits that differentiate these dogs from wolf descendants.

  2. I never thought of that behavior as being motherly before, but after reading your post and then seeing her do it again the other night, I could definitely see it…
